Recycling Campaign Launched In Schools

The Environment Agency in Abu Dhabi (EAD) has launched a campaign, to encourage schools to recycle single-use plastic bottles.

The 'Pile It Up' campaign started on 23 September and will run till 22 November, and over two months, encourages schools around Abu Dhabi to recycle the collected bottles.

The school that collects and recycles the most will receive a prize of Dhs 12,000, the runner-up school receiving Dhs 10,000 and the second runner-up getting Dhs 8,000.

The top seven schools will also be featured on EAD social media channels and will also receive certificates.

Ahmed Baharoon, Executive Director of Environment Information, Science Outreach Management Division at EAD said, "The younger generation today is increasingly eco-conscious and can play an influential role in encouraging their peers and families to get real on efforts to safeguard the environment, which is the core mandate of EAD. We want to harness their concern, show them that we mean business and get their support for our Mission to Zero movement against single-use products."
