Dubai-based airlines Emirates and flydubai have announced that wearing face masks is now optional onboard aircraft on most flights.

Abu Dhabi's Etihad Airways has also announced that wearing face masks has been relaxed.

The rule however will be determined based on the destination of each flight and the protocols set by the corresponding country on wearing face masks.

Face masks are required when travelling to China, India, Indonesia, Japan, Maldives, Philippines, South Korea, Seychelles and Canada.

The relaxation of wearing face masks follows the announcement made during a media briefing on Monday 26 September where UAE COVID-19 protocols were eased, where wearing face masks is now optional in indoor public places throughout the country.
