The UAE government has announced a temporary suspension of visa on arrivals effective mow. This step has been initiated as a part of the precautionary and preventive measures to contain the spread of COVID-19.

The only exception to this rule is to holders of diplomatic passports.

Earlier this week, the government had announced to temporarily suspend the visa issuances to all visitors, exempting people who could receive a visa on arrival. However, from now on, there will be no issuance of visas at all with an exemption to diplomatic passport holders.

The statement issued by the WAM, government news agency reads, "The decision will apply to holders of exempted passports until a medical clearance process is activated at the departure country as part of global precautionary measures being undertaken to mitigate the spread of COVID-19. The decision comes within the framework of the UAE's support for efforts by the international community to contain the virus, the statement concluded."
