Beware: 90% of medicines sold online are fake

The Ministry of Health and Prevention has warned the public against buying medicines sold as safe online. According to the World Health Organisation (WHO), 90% of such drugs are counterfeit and life-threatening. Promoting such medicines through social media is punishable according to the Ministry. The WHO considers drug fraud an organised crime as it may lead to thousands of death among patients and users each year. Fake drugs are being smuggled to a lot of countries and sold online. Dubai is taking a number of measures to combat fake drugs that includes monitoring all websites that promote fraud medicine. The UAE has become a key international player in the Anti-Drug Fraud campaign.
