Hala, Dubai’s e-hailing taxi service, has raised Dhs 300,000 as part of its Ramadan initiative to support its captains. Launched in partnership with Careem, the  'Tip Matching' initiative helped double customer tips for captains across the UAE, and also help distribute more than 17,000 iftar meals.

The campaign was created to make it easy for customers to support captains during Ramadan through small everyday actions. Using the Careem app, customers could add a tip at the end of each ride, and Hala matched it at no extra cost to the customer, doubling the tip received by the captain.

The initiative benefited more than 11,400 Hala Captains. On average, each captain earned an additional Dhs 13 per ride during Ramadan.

Khaled Nuseibeh, CEO of Hala, said: “The Holy Month of Ramadan is a time that brings communities together, and this year it was beautifully reflected in how customers showed their gratitude to our Captains; particularly during this time when showing up for one another matters even more. The tip-matching initiative shows how small, everyday actions can add up to something meaningful.”

Hala also worked to help captains break their fast while on duty. More than 17,000 iftar meals were distributed, including 10,000 in collaboration with My Govinda’s.

In addition, Hala introduced a number of captain recognition initiatives during the Holy Month. The company recognised standout performers based on overall performance, service excellence, and key operational measures such as number of trips, acceptance rate, and online hours. As part of the programme, cash prizes worth more than Dhs 30,000 were awarded. Gift hampers sponsored by Motorola were also distributed.

The initiative reflects Hala's ongoing commitment to building a more connected and human-centric mobility experience in Dubai, where community support and generosity go hand in hand.
