Uber has introduced Uber Teens in the UAE, KSA, Qatar, and Jordan, a service tailored for families on the move. This feature enables parents or guardians to create specialised Uber accounts for teens aged 13 to 17. With parental supervision and essential safety features integrated, teens can now request rides independently using the Uber Teens app.

To assist teens in creating an account, parents or guardians can invite them through their family profile in the Uber app. Once invited, teens will receive a link to download the app, set up their new teen account, and undergo the required safety onboarding process. Following this, teens can begin requesting trips independently.

“Teen accounts are built with transparency in mind so that there are no surprises for parents, teens, or drivers. We’re thrilled to offer this innovative feature to families across the UAE, KSA, Qatar and Jordan, with key safety features built into the heart of the experience. Whether their teen is getting a ride to an internship or heading home after football practice, parents will receive real-time notifications and can follow along with live trip tracking every step of the way. We’re committed to helping keep teens safe and getting families moving,” said Pia Tabet, UAE, Qatar and Jordan General Manager at Uber.

What Are The Safety Features On The Uber Teens App

  • Live Trip And Delivery Tracking: Parents can track their teen's ride in real-time, receiving updates on the driver's name, vehicle details, and destination.
  • PIN Verification: Teens must provide a unique PIN to the driver before starting the trip, ensuring safety and security.
  • RideCheck: Uber monitors rides for any unusual activity, with increased sensitivity during teen trips.
  • Audio Recording: Users can record trip audio for added security, with encrypted files stored on the device.
  • Expanded Communication: Parents can contact their teen's driver during the trip if needed.
  • Experienced Drivers: Only highly-rated, experienced drivers who have passed screening and background checks can accept teen trip requests, with the option to opt out at any time.
