His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, has honoured His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Vice President, Deputy Prime Minister, and Chairman of the Presidential Court, with the Order of Zayed award. This recognition is a gesture of appreciation for their pivotal contributions to the effective organisation of the recent UN Climate Change Conference (COP28), which was hosted by the UAE. The award ceremony took place at the Erth Hotel in Abu Dhabi.

Furthermore, in recognition of their contributions to the success of the conference, His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan awarded the Order of the Union to His Highness Sheikh Tahnoon bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Deputy Ruler of Abu Dhabi and National Security Advisor; His Highness Sheikh Maktoum bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, First Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance; His Highness Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Chairman of the Higher Committee for overseeing preparations to host COP28.
Her Highness Sheikha Mariam bint Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Chairperson of the Salama bint Hamdan Al Nahyan Foundation; His Excellency Dr. Sultan bin Ahmed Al Jaber, Minister of Industry and Advanced Technology and COP28 President; and His Excellency Mohammed Abdullah Al Junaibi, Chairman of the Federal Authority, were awarded for protocol and strategic narrative.
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan also honoured the UAE’s COP28 negotiating team, along with members of the COP28 Presidency Office and various working groups, by awarding them the First Class Order of Zayed II.
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan honoured Her Excellency Reem bint Ebrahim Al Hashimy, Minister of State for International Cooperation, with the Order of the Union for her contributions to the UAE's successful hosting of Expo 2020 Dubai.
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan praised all the teams for the success of COP28, highlighting their role in organising it excellently, which showcased the nation's ability to host major international events.
His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan emphasised that the conference's success was due to the collaborative efforts of various national entities, institutions, and individuals. This success reflects the nation's dedication to enhancing its global role in addressing climate change, promoting international cooperation in this crucial area, and advancing sustainability.
The award ceremony took place two months after the UAE hosted Cop28, where thousands of delegates and visitors convened at Expo City Dubai.
