His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Announces Women’s Health Strategy

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai, has launched comprehensive plans to improve healthcare services for women. The cabinet has endorsed the National Policy for Enhancing women’s health in the UAE, aiming to establish a multi-sectoral national framework for enhancing women's health through high-quality and efficient health services, including preventive, curative, and rehabilitative care. 

The policy targets reducing the cancer mortality rate to 23.24 per 100,000 women and the overall mortality rate to 62.77 per 100,000 women. Additionally, the UAE aims to reduce health problems caused by unhealthy habits, like obesity and lack of exercise, among women by 3%. 

"We approved the ‘National Policy for Improving Women’s Health' in the UAE, to ensure providing the highest healthcare services quality for women, whether curative, preventive or rehabilitative services. All government and private sectors will work together to champion health research, to cultivate in the country the best environment that prioritises women's health," His Highness Sheikh Mohammed said in remarks carried by the UAE Media Office.

The specific current rates of cancer and general mortality for women in the UAE were not disclosed.
