The National Library and Archives have introduced the first Encyclopaedia of UAE History in the country as part of their significant role in preserving the nation's memories. A special event marked the launch, attended by notable cultural and academic figures, including specialists and researchers contributing to the project.

This Encyclopaedia, initially available digitally, will consist of seven sections. The first section emphasises on the UAE's geography, location, area, natural resources, and physical features, while others delve into its history. An advisory body with members from various UAE emirates oversees the project, and a scientific committee with expert historians guides its development.

The plan is to complete the Encyclopaedia within five years, encouraging participation from scientific and cultural institutions, researchers, and specialists to enhance it with accurate and documented information. What sets this Encyclopaedia apart is its commitment to providing well-documented and authentic historical information, offering a wealth of knowledge about the UAE's ancient and illustrious history.

The project aligns with the vision of the UAE's founder, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, who regarded understanding the past as crucial for understanding the present and envisioning the future.
