UAE Weather: Heavy Rains and Thunderstorms Hit Several Parts Of The Country

Friday morning brought wet conditions to the UAE, with numerous residents waking up to thunderstorms and heavy rains. The unstable weather conditions, which originated in Ras Al Khaimah, on Thursday, persisted. The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) recorded significant downpours in various regions, including Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, Dubai, Ras Al Khaimah, Fujairah, Sharjah, and Ajman, as reported in updates on social media.

Dubai experienced heavy rain, thunderstorms, and lightning starting at 5am on Friday morning. NCM issued an orange and yellow alert for the Northern and Eastern Emirates, cautioning residents about the likelihood of heavy rain, thunder, and strong winds. The weather conditions are anticipated to ease by noon.

Dubai's Road and Transport Authority (RTA) issued a flood warning due to rain accumulation around Sheikh Zayed Road on Friday morning. Motorists were encouraged to consider alternative routes. Additionally, the RTA is recommending passengers using Dubai International Airport to opt for the Dubai Metro for convenient access via the airport metro stations in Terminals 1 and 3. To ensure timely arrivals, residents are advised to plan for a four-hour buffer before their flights.

Abu Dhabi Police issued advice to motorists, urging caution on the emirate's roads. 

Regarding the weather, NCM indicated an anticipated drop in temperatures, with expected highs of 29°C in Dubai, 28°C in Abu Dhabi, 31°C in Ras Al Khaimah, and 30°C in Fujairah. The lowest temperature recorded over the country today morning is 9.4°C in Jais Mountain. 

According to the weather website Windy, the rain is predicted to extend to Fujairah in the afternoon. It is anticipated that conditions will stabilise by Saturday, with temperatures experiencing a slight increase, reaching highs of 30°C in Dubai, 29°C in Abu Dhabi, 30°C in Ras Al Khaimah, and 31°C in Fujairah.

On Sunday, temperatures are set to climb once more, reaching highs of 31°C in both Dubai and Abu Dhabi, 31°C in Ras Al Khaimah, and 30°C in Fujairah. Additionally, sea conditions over the weekend are anticipated to remain calm.
