Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has announced that parking permits for Emirati senior citizens and people of determination will be digitalised.
Taking effect on 20 August, individuals will not have to print out parking permits and display them, and can activate free parking through the RTA website or app.
Through the smart permit, a driver can register five vehicles under one permit, one being the primary car and four additional secondary vehicles.
Issuing and renewing permits for Emirati senior citizens and people of determination can be done online.
To renew permits, a text message along with a link to renew them will be sent to the individual's registered mobile numbers.
The service also includes issuing permanent, temporary and tourist permits for people of determination, as well as permits for rehabilitation centres, and for special medical conditions, allowing them to use the dedicated public parking spaces for free.
