55 Million Taxi Trips Taken During First Half Of 2023

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has recorded 55 million passenger journeys by taxis, during the first half of 2023.

The rides taken from January to June 2023, show a 10% increase in taxi trips, when compared to 50 million in the same period in 2022.

Hala Taxi, the e-hailing service for Dubai taxis, has also seen an increase in trips taken, up by 35% in the first half of 2023, when compared to 28% in 2022. The number of drivers have also increased from 19,000 to 26,000.

Adel Shakri, Director of Planning and Business Development at Public Transport Agency at RTA said, "The sector experienced unprecedented growth, marking its highest growth in recent years, particularly e-hailing of taxis, smart car rentals, and Hala Taxi service. The analysis of figures and ratios of the sector during the first half of 2023 reflects the thriving economy of Dubai, which cemented its standing as a prominent global hub for investment and tourism."
