Two UAE residents have been made millionaires overnight through the weekly draw Mahzooz, .
The 139th draw saw Indian expat Sachin win the grand draw of Dhs 20 million, and Indian resident Gowtham receive Dhs 1 million, taking the number of people turned into millionaires through Mahzooz to 55, of which 20 are from India.
Sachin, the 47-year-old Computer-Aided Design Technician, and now the winner of Dhs 20 million, has been a resident in the UAE for 25 years and a regular Mahzooz partcipiant said, "I have been participating in Mahzooz every week, hoping for a big win one day. This victory is a life-changer for my family and me." Sachin has not yet decided what he plans with his windfall, though he did say his priority is his childrens' education.
Gowtham, the winner of the guaranteed Dhs 1 million draw, is a 27-year-old Project Engineer and has been living in Dubai for the past four years. Having participated in Mahzooz for over a year, the Dubai resident plans to use the money won to build a home in India and help his parents.
The second prize, amounting to a total of Dhs 200,000 was given to 23 winners, with each receiving Dhs 8,696.
Mahzooz has so far given out over Dhs 450 million in prize money to over 250,000 winners, of which a total of Dhs 164 million has been given out to over 105,000 people from India.
To be in with a chance to win, participants need to buy a bottle of water, priced at Dhs 35, and can win Dhs 20 million through the grand draw, as well as be entered to win a guaranteed Dhs 1 million every week. For the next few weeks till the end of August, all participants will also be entered into the Mahzooz Golden Summer Draw, where one person will win Dhs 50,000 of gold coins every week.
