Deadline For Unemployment Scheme Extended

The Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation (MoHRE) has extended the deadline to register for the Unemployment Insurance Scheme.

The deadline was initially set for 30 June and now has been extended until 1 October.

Employees are advised to register before the deadline to ensure a fine of Dhs 400 is not charged.

Launched on 1 January this year, the scheme helps protect employees by offering up to 60% of their monthly salaries for three months, if made redundant.

The scheme has two subscription plans, where employees with a salary of Dhs 16,000 and lower, will be charged an insurance cost of Dhs 5 a month, with the compensation not exceeding Dhs 10,000. The second plan is for individuals with salaries higher than 16,000, where the cost of insurance is set at Dhs 10 a month, with compensation of up to Dhs 20,000 given per month.
