Off the beaten track: Take a kayak lesson over a weekend this winter

With mercury levels soothing down, Dubai's weather has so much to offer to one and all. Beaches go more live and water sports start catching all the action. But if you are the one who's idea of water sports is to revel in calm and sober offerings of nature with less people around but you are no expert in taking your own kayaks into the azure waters of sea; fret not. Dubai has something for everyone.

Kayaking is an exhilarating sports that everyone can enjoy plus it is a great exercise. And Dubai is perfect for this with it’s beautiful beaches. So why not book a kayaking session for yourself over a weekend?

A water sports company, SeaYou, at Sofitel, Palm Jumeriah offers a guided two and half hour kayaking tour for beginners.

Whether you are doing it for the first time or have done it before at busy beach fronts, you will enjoy gliding through sky-blue waters of Palm Jumeirah.

The guided kayak tours starts from Sofitel Hotel on the Palm Jumeirah - East Crescent and kayakers paddle past Atlantis and beautiful villas on the palm fronds. Then there is a short break on the beach of frond M with views of Dubai Marina. During this 20 minute break, kayakers are free to do whatever they wish including swimming in the sea. This is the best time to venture into the Arabian Sea in a kayak as you feel the breezy winds on your face while gazing at breath-taking views all around. After this rejuvenating break, it’s time to head back.

You can take this guided tour either on a single kayak or with your partner on a double kayak. A single kayak will cost you Dhs 230 and a double kayak will be for Dhs 345.
