Review: Semi-permanent brows at Chloe Walsh at Browz

Why is it hair only grows where you don’t want it to and not where you do want it to? Overplucking when I was a teen left me with thin eyebrows and after I moved to Dubai an overzealous threading left me with virtually none. It wasn’t too bad when I was wearing make-up, but without it I was definitely lacking in the brow department. The idea of a permanent tattoo terrified me and until recently I thought I was doomed to be drawing them on forever.

Then I heard about Chloe Walsh. Originally from the UK where she owns her own beauty salon, Chloe is a fully qualified and experienced Brow Artist, after initially training in HD Brows and being one of the first salons to offer the specialist treatment, she realised that not everybody could achieve perfect brows using wax and tint. She trained with Nouveau Contour under the tuition of Karen Betts to become a qualified Cosmetic Permanent Make Up Artist specialising in eyebrows.

What’s involved?

Chloe drew my new eyebrows on with pencil first so I could get an idea of the final result. After we had agreed on the size and shape she then helped me choose the colour which suited my skin best. A topical numbing cream was applied about 15 minutes prior to my appointment, then continually throughout the treatment. Chloe uses both a machine and microblading techniques to create the best look. The whole process took about an hour and while there were a few uncomfortable moments it honestly wasn’t painful. I went home and kept applying a cream to sooth the area for a few days. Then one month later I went back for my retouch.

What are the results?

Just utterly fantastic! I have eyebrows again, they’ve totally changed the shape of my face, given me the confidence to go without make-up again and knocked a couple of years off me. They look natural enough so that people who don’t know me don’t even notice and people who do know me think they’re amazing! The results can last between 6 months and 18 months – depending on your skin and other factor such as how much time you spend in the sun. I will definitely be keeping this up and plan on a retouch in around 6 to 8 months.

How much?

The full set of brows with touch up is priced at Dhs 3,500.
