Birth certificates will now be issued to mothers of children born outside of marriages.
The change is part of the new reforms announced by His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE.
Having children outside marriages has been decriminalised, and mothers can now apply for a birth certificate without a father via the Abu Dhabi Judicial Department.
Mothers are required to out the form by filling out personal details as well as submitting either an Emirates ID or passport and the birth notification of the child, issued by the hospital.
