The Williamson Pink Star, one of the world's largest and rare pink diamonds, has started its roadshow in Dubai at the Dubai Diamond Exchange.

The 11.15-carat pink diamond is expected to be sold for USD 21 million (Dhs 77.13 million).

The diamond from Dubai will travel to Singapore and Taipei and will then be sold at a single-lot auction in Hong Kong in October.

Wenhao Yu, Chairman of Jewellery and Watches at Sotheby’s Asia said, “The discovery of a gem-quality pink diamond of any size is an extremely rare occurrence. Driven by a limited supply and rising demand, prices for top-quality large pink diamonds over 5 carats have increased exponentially over the past decade, serendipitously setting the scene for the appearance now of this one-of-a-kind stone.”

DMCC has been establishing Dubai as the leading global hub for the trade of rough and polished diamonds.

During the first half of 2022, the UAE reported USD 19.8 billion (Dhs 72.72 billion) diamond trade, with a 25% yearly growth.
