Patent For Masks That Kill The Virus Registered

WAM

The United Arab Emirates University (UAEU) has registered a patent for a mask that will help kill viruses.

The electrical mask can be used during epidemics, viral outbreaks or pandemics which cause various global, social and economic problems.

With the COVID-19 pandemic, the need for protective gear like face masks was highlighted to help protect individuals from exposure.

The device can be attached to protective gear like face masks and will have enough space for the user to breathe.

Made with flexible plastics or polymer material, the masks will fit the shape of the user’s face.

When charged, the mask will have a current flow which will lead to the virus either completely destroyed or partially destroyed but harmless.

Based on the requirements for different viruses, the current setting and application can be adjusted.

The current flow from the device can also be used to create vaccines to fight the virus.

Mahmoud Al Ahmad, Associate Professor of Engineering at the United Arab Emirates University said, “The work is of interest for the scientific community; it will open new areas to search to provide smart solutions to overcome the COVID-19 pandemic. While the concept will require more development before being applied to PPE, it is an excellent start in this direction.”
