New Green Visas Available In The UAE

WAM

UAE ministers have announced the launch of green visas and freelance visas in the UAE.

The announcement was made at the launch of the 'Project of 50' which is a series of developmental and economic projects that aims to accelerate the UAE's development.

The green visa is a new visa scheme that bridges the gap between work permits and residencies and will enable highly skilled individuals, investors, entrepreneurs, top students and graduates to sponsor themselves.

With the visa, individuals can sponsor their sons till they turn 25 when previously visa sponsors for sons were only permitted till they turned 18.

The green visa also allows individuals that lose their jobs or are retiring to get a 90 to 180 day grace period to leave the country, rather than receiving only 30 days.

Individuals with green visas can also sponsor their parents.

Additionally, the freelancers visa was announced which is the first of its kind and will allow self-employers to sponsor themselves.
