The world's tallest building, The Burj Khalfa, displayed a fantastic light and firework show to mark the launch of the 23rd edition of the annual Dubai Summer Surprises (DSS).
Spectators on the Dubai Mall promenade enjoyed a four minute video show the full length of The Burj Khalifa, along with a firework display and a special performance of the Dubai Fountains. The video also featured a message of thanks from the UAE to all first responders.
The evening also reintroduced a new look Modesh, an icon of DSS for many years, and his new friend Dana.
DSS runs for seven weeks up to 29 August and features a while hose of promotions, entertainment and events. A line up of activities has been announced.
