Film And Comic Fans Show Is Back

The much anticipated Middle East Film and Comic Con (MEFCC) 2020 is back in Dubai for another year and set to open its doors today to thousands of film lovers, art and pop culture enthusiasts and geeks for yet another action-packed event running all weekend at the Dubai World Trade Centre. Visitors can come dressed as their favourite characters from comic books, video games or film.

Here is some of what to expect from this weekend-long event:

  • Fans attending will get the chance to rub shoulders with A-list celebrities flying in from across the world, including Mena Massoud, the star of Disney’s live-action remake, Aladdin, Superman star Brandon Routh, Daredevil’s femme fatale Elodie Yung, dwarf warrior Gimli from Lord of the Rings, John Rhys-Davies and Joseph David-Jones from American TV shows Nashville and Arrow.
  • Anime lovers are in for a treat with a chance to watch the first five minutes of the highly anticipated Digimon Adventure: Last Evolution Kizuna that will be screened at MEFCC before it hits cinemas later this year, along with first screenings of Tower of God and My Next Life as A Villainess by Crunchyroll prior to their release in Japan. Families can take their little ones and experience a brand new magical tale in Disney Pixar’s latest animation, Onward, the week of the release and as part of the MEFCC ticket.
  • Avid comic book readers and hobbyists who are looking to dive into the world of creativity and colours can attend a variety of workshops on all 3 days, conducted by world-renowned artists such as Sam De La Rosa who inspired the latest Venom movie, Mostafa Moussa who took his talent from the Middle East to the biggest names in the US including Marvel, DC Comics and Disney, and International cosplayers Rei Suzuki and Kaoru Lily who have represented the Netherlands in the World Cosplay Summit last year.
  • Those with a keen eye for collectables or want a commissioned piece of art will be spoilt for choice at this year’s event featuring several vintage and exclusive pieces from Tsume, Otaku ME, Geek Nation, Funko, Speedy Comics and many more.

Our advise to make the most of your visit is to arrive at MEFCC 2020 early and wear comfortable shoes.

MEFCC 2020 is open on Thursday 5 March from 2pm to 10pm, Friday 6 March from 12 noon to 10pm and Saturday 7 March from 11am to 9pm at Dubai World Trade Centre.
