The UAE Ministry of Interior, through the Federal Traffic Council, officially launched its third major traffic safety campaign of 2026 on Wednesday, 1st July. Operating under the slogan ‘Accident-Free Summer’, the three-month initiative is strategically timed to coincide with the school holiday and peak summer travel season.
The nationwide drive aims to raise awareness about vital vehicle maintenance and safe driving habits when temperatures spike. To reach the diverse population across Dubai and Abu Dhabi, federal police forces and regional road safety authorities are distributing educational material in English, Arabic and Urdu across multiple social media platforms.
Traffic authorities are placing strong emphasis on proactive vehicle checks. Motorists are urged to inspect their tyres, indicators and headlights thoroughly before embarking on any long journey. With families frequently travelling by road across the Emirates or into neighbouring countries during the summer months, the campaign explicitly warns against overloading vehicle roof racks, which can compromise car stability.
Furthermore, safety guidelines highlight the critical danger of leaving children or flammable materials inside parked cars, where cabin temperatures can reach fatal levels within minutes. Motorists are also being reminded to respect speed limits, maintain safe following distances and strictly comply with traffic laws to reduce preventable collisions on major highways.
