Dubai authorities have officially renamed Al Faghi Street in Al Khawaneej as Sheikh Zayed Farm Street in a move designed to celebrate the UAE’s heritage and founding history.

Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA), together with the Dubai Road Naming Committee, confirmed the change as part of ongoing efforts to connect Dubai’s road network with sites of national importance.

Sheikh Zayed Farm holds major historical value in the UAE’s journey towards union and was recently recognised as the country’s third official Union landmark, alongside Union House and Arqoob Al Sedira. The designation was announced by His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE.

The farm played a significant role in the months leading up to the formation of the UAE. In March 1971, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan spent nearly two weeks at the site, where he held a series of meetings with the Rulers of the emirates. Those discussions later contributed to the signing of the Union Agreement and the UAE Constitution later that year.

Authorities said the road renaming reflects Dubai’s commitment to preserving historic locations and strengthening awareness of the nation’s founding story among future generations.

Residents have welcomed the move, describing it as an important tribute to the UAE’s heritage and leadership legacy.
