Dubai’s Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) has released a new guide to help parents support their children during distance learning.
The 'Parent Guide to Supporting Your Child During Distance Learning' provides practical tips for parents to support children at home. The guide focusses on emotional well-being, managing screen time, and strengthening communication between parents and schools.
The guide is designed to provide practical and age-appropriate advice that families can apply in various home circumstances. Furthermore, the guide clearly states that parents and guardians are not expected to replace the role of the teacher or recreate a full school day at home. Instead, the goal is to help children stay connected, supported, and able to continue learning as effectively as possible.
The parent guide clarifies that parents or guardians play an important supporting role in helping children access learning, follow routines, stay engaged, and maintain their well-being.
The guide also offers targeted advice for students who may need extra support, younger children, and children affected by anxiety or family stress. In addition, there is also a section on age-wise guidance for children right from the Early Years to Secondary and Senior students.
Fatma Belrehif, CEO of the Quality Assurance and Compliance Agency at KHDA said, "This guide reflects our commitment to supporting parents during distance learning and strengthening the positive partnership between schools and families to ensure continuity of education and student wellbeing."
The guide can be accessed by parents through the KHDA's official website.
