Concierge Column: Kimberly Gayle Coral

Concierges at hotels are the best for being a visitor's go-to person for any insight into the city.

As Dubai is home to so many amazing sights and landmarks, there is never a shortage of things to see in the city.

Despite all the research done in advance and planning, one of the best ways to truly get a feel for a city visited is by talking to locals and residents, and the concierge at the hotel is the perfect person to reveal all the hidden gems in Dubai.

Kimberly Gayle Coral, Guest Relations Manager at Le Méridien Dubai Hotel and Conference Centre in Al Garhoud, is the right person to turn to when in need of suggestions on places to visit in the city.

With seven years of experience in the industry, Kimberly has helped a number of people visiting the hotel with tips and tricks on how to make it the best one.

Kimberly shared with Connector her go-to places in Dubai as well as the best dishes to try out while in the Emirate.

What two tourist' activities would you recommend for a visitor if they are visiting over the next two months?

Going at the top of Burj Khalifa, it is a bit of a cliché, but you can never not visit the tallest building in the world. I suggest doing a day visit and a night visit. The Dubai skyline transforms into a field of colourful lights at night, which is breathtaking to see.

Definitely see a show at Dubai Opera, a lot of interesting shows to see this year. The 2,000-seat performing arts centre will host be hosting numerous entertaining shows such as musicals, concerts and more.

What would you suggest as a must-try, must-visit and a must-eat for all visitors?

Must Try: Not for the faint of heart, but definitely try having camel meat.

Must Visit: Souk Madinat in Jumeirah to experience traditional Arabian bazaars with an amazing picture-perfect view of Burj Al Arab. Plus, you can also dine in after doing a bit of shopping.

Must Eat: Luqaimat, it is a traditional Emirati dessert that is best paired with coffee.

What is a hidden gem that you would suggest is worth visiting or trying?

Al Qudra Lake is a great place for a drive and to see a little bit of wildlife. It is a refreshing break from the hustle and bustle of the city.

What is your favourite thing about Dubai?

I always see Dubai as a melting pot of culture which is very enriching. You meet people from different countries and learn about their traditions and culture. I only intended to stay for a year or two, but ended up staying longer.

What is the one must-do at Le Meridien for a guest?

Dine in. You may choose from any of our 18 award-winning restaurants, including Casa Mia, Kiku, Bebemos and Long Yin.
