GDRFA Launches Facial And Iris Recognition

Dubai Media Office

The General Directorate of Residency and Foreigners Affairs in Dubai (GDRFA-Dubai) has launched a new fast track passport control service that uses facial and iris recognition technologies to identify individuals.

The new biometric systems are placed at arrivals and departure terminals around Dubai Airport.

This will enable travellers to complete their passport control procedures in five to nine seconds, based on the movement and speed of the passenger. To avail the service, passengers need to pre-register.

Using advanced artificial intelligence (AI), the new service will enhance passengers travel experience by expediting immigration procedures.

This is in line with GDRFA-Dubai’s efforts to develop innovative smart services to integrate advanced technologies into all government services to enhance the public's quality of life.
