New Public Spaces, Waterfront Illumination And AI Parks Approved For Dubai

His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the UAE, and Chairman of The Executive Council of Dubai, has approved a series of development projects designed to improve public facilities and community spaces across the emirate.

The initiatives, overseen by Dubai Municipality, directly target the lifestyle and urban surroundings of Dubai residents. Key highlights include the construction of the region's first integrated Falcon Market, an expansive illumination project for Dubai Creek, the world's first AI-powered park design competition, and the creation of a new urban park in collaboration with a world-renowned architect.

A major addition for residents and families is the Dubai Falcon Market, located in the emirate’s rural and desert areas. Spanning 50,000 square feet with an estimated budget of Dhs 50 million, the venue features a distinct design inspired by falcon wings. The market will house specialized retail shops for falcons and falconry supplies, a fully integrated veterinary clinic, and dedicated spaces for cultural events, making it a new destination for heritage tourism and community gathering.

For those who frequent the city's historical areas, the Dubai Creek Lighting project will transform an eight-kilometre stretch of the waterfront into a vibrant night-time destination. Scheduled for completion in the first quarter of 2027, the innovative lighting setup will illuminate walkways, promenades, heritage markets, and building facades. This addition ensures a safer, visually appealing environment for evening strolls and waterfront dining.

Residents will also have a unique opportunity to shape their local surroundings through the ‘First AI-Powered Park Design Challenge.’ This global initiative invites designers, students, and startups to use artificial intelligence and data analytics to design future public spaces based on actual community usage patterns. Locals will be actively involved in selecting the final winning designs alongside a panel of international experts.

Additionally, Dubai Municipality’s Urban Planning and Design Lab is partnering with acclaimed Japanese architect Kengo Kuma to develop 'Reservoir Park.' Marking Kuma's first park project in Dubai, the space is intended to seamlessly blend natural landscapes with modern architecture while honouring local identity, providing residents with a brand-new, world-class green space to explore.
