There are some things that make flying feel instantly more exciting: a window seat, a good playlist, a meal you actually look forward to and, now, Wi-Fi fast enough to keep up with your life on the ground.
Emirates’ iconic A380 is stepping into a new era of connected travel with the arrival of next-generation Starlink Wi-Fi onboard. The first Emirates A380 fitted with the system has returned to Dubai after installation and certification in Newquay, UK, marking a world-first for the world’s largest passenger aircraft.
For passengers, this means the journey could soon feel less like a digital pause and more like a stylish extension of everyday life. Think streaming your favourite series above the clouds, sending holiday updates before landing, catching up on work, gaming, browsing, or simply staying connected with family and friends while flying at 40,000 feet.

The upgrade is a big leap from Emirates’ first-generation onboard internet systems, which offered less than 1 Megabit per second of total aircraft bandwidth. Each A380 will now be fitted with three Starlink antennas, designed to deliver more than 2 Gigabits per second of total aircraft bandwidth across the cabin. In simple terms, it means faster, smoother and more reliable internet for passengers across both decks of the aircraft.
The best part? The service will be complimentary for all passengers, across every cabin. Whether you are flying Economy, Premium Economy, Business Class or First Class, the new Starlink Wi-Fi will be available with easy sign-up and access. Future upgrades will include live television streaming over Starlink, first on personal devices and later through seat back screens.
Starlink installations will begin at Emirates Engineering facilities in Dubai, with more A380 aircraft scheduled for upgrades throughout 2026. The airline already has 25 Boeing 777-300ER aircraft fitted with Starlink, and more than 650,000 Emirates passengers have already flown on Starlink-equipped flights.
For travellers, the message is simple: the Emirates A380 experience is getting even better. Whether you are heading off on holiday, travelling for work, or just trying to keep your group chat alive from the sky, the future of flying looks faster, smoother and much more connected.
