The route for the 2024 edition of the Dubai Marathon has been announced.
Organised by Dubai Sports Council, Dubai Police and Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority, the race will be held on 7 January 2024, and will start and finish on Umm Suqeim Road.
Participants can choose between three race options, the 4km fun run, 10km road run, and the 42.195km marathon.
The 42.195km marathon route will begin on Umm Suqeim Road near Madinat Jumeirah, before crossing the Dubai College junction towards Dubai Media City and turning around near The Westin Dubai Mina Seyahi. The route continues along Al Sufouh, where runners will go past Madinat Jumeirah, onto Jumeirah Beach Road, passing Burj Al Arab and Jumeirah Beach Hotel and continuing until the Al Mehemal Road junction where they will turn to head back to Madinat Jumeirah, and once again turn to take another lap on the same route. After the second lap, runners will then turn left at the Madinat Jumeirah junction and end the race near Dubai Police Academy.
The 10km will start near Madinat Jumeirah, where runners will head up to The Westin Dubai Mina Seyahi, before turning and heading back to the start. The 4km run will also start at Madinat Jumeirah, and runners will turn around at the Dubai College junction, before running back along the same path.
The marathon is open to all and registration is available through the Dubai Marathon website.
The 2024 edition will also see top athletes participate, that are looking to qualify for their countries and achieve the standard set by the Olympic Committee and by their national federation, to compete in the marathon at the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris on 30 April 2024.
His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Hareb, Secretary General at Dubai Sports Council said, "The Dubai Marathon is well established as one of the largest annual sporting events on the calendar and is a firm favourite with runners of all ages and abilities, so it is important the city gets fully behind it."
The 2023 edition of the Dubai Marathon was held at Expo City Dubai.
