UAE Donations Help Seychelles Open New Hospital

WAM

The UAE has contributed over Dhs 25 million to open a hospital in La Digue, Seychelles, with the donations made under the directives of Her Highness Sheikha Fatima bint Mubarak, Chairwoman of the General Women's Union, President of the Supreme Council for Motherhood and Childhood, Supreme Chairwoman of the Family Development Foundation and the Mother of the Nation.

The multi-speciality hospital is equipped to provide care to around 3,000 residents every year, and offers a range of services including physical therapy, emergency care, general medicine, dental care, audiology, ultrasound, cardiology and ophthalmology, and also has operating and recovery rooms, units for kidney dialysis, and women's maternity care.

Male, female and children's wards, isolation rooms, and a natural childbirth room, are also present at the hospital.

The hospital will help enhance the quality of healthcare services received by residents in La Digue and on neighbouring islands in the country, as well as strengthens the ties between the UAE and Seychelles.
