Back to School Top Tips

Even though getting organised for back to school has inevitable perks, it should not in anyway take away the tranquility and solace of holidays too early into the vacation mode. We just need to keep brainstorming those swanky minds with plenty of reinforcement so going back to school becomes as fun as holidays itself.

Milestones Nursery Teachers share with you a few of their tried and tested tips as being mommies themselves, to prevent all sorts of back to school mayhems. Babies’ room teacher at Milestones Nursery shares, “I used to set the alarm for school time and wake my child up as I would on a normal school day, get him dressed and packed his lunch box. Then we would go to the nearest park to play and later enjoyed a leisured picnic.” She insists that everyone can manipulate this tip according to his or her own circumstance.

Another teacher advises, “You may prepare the children for back to school by encouraging them to make their own customized pencil kits/boxes pencil tops etc. by using DIY recycling. This will not only familiarise the children with the idea of recycling but will contribute to the excitement of going back to school and showing and sharing the items they create with the friends and teachers.”

She also adds, “Rather buying a new bag, add some nice element to the old one like glow in the night stickers, badges, key chains, or even sew in small stuffed toys of their favorite cartoon characters.”

Milestones Nursery`Make Lunches Fun! ‘Another beneficial tip comes from, the principal of Milestones Nursery. “I talk to my daughter about her favorite food and together we try new recipes to make for her lunch box and snacks. We also make weekly lunch box plan which keeps her eager for each day of the school week.”

Milestones Nursery teachers also recommend getting the new year school supplies list before hand and to buy the requested supplies a week or two early. This way children will get enough time to explore the new items and it will give parents fair amount of time to discuss with them about the upcoming projects and themes that the kids would be enjoying later when the school starts.

One of the teacher’s mentions that she prefers at least one of the holiday gifts to be something associated with school and studies. She likes to tag one of the fancy gift-wrapped boxes as `back to school` and since kids can’t resist the gift with a special message on it, the fancy gift-wrap is gone in the flash of a second.

As much of a task it is for the mommies and daddies to get the children back into school going mode, the teachers awaiting for the term to start with all the activities, face the same turmoil in the classrooms. `HighScope curriculum allows the teachers to build up a parallel relationship with the children, which makes the world easier for every one on every single day. The children are so happy coming back to the nursery and to meet their teachers that the first day after holidays seems like a reunion day at school. Children are not scared of notebooks rather they are always excited about the activities they would be doing which essentially is the HighScope way of teaching.` Preschool classroom teacher at Milestones Nursery shares her experience.

Moving to a more disciplined school routine from a relaxed summer routine can be stressful to everyone in the house. By practicing your routine a few days in advance helps children feel comfortable, which will definitely make the first day of school go much smoother for everyone.

Milestones Nursery will start their Academic year 2015-16 from 6th September 2015. All mums and dads looking for a new nursery are recommended to book a tour of Milestones Nursery with the principal where you can meet the teacher of your child, tour the premises and sign up for a free day trial in the nursery.

Good Luck Milestones Nursery!
