Private Schools To Increase Fees

The Knowledge and Human Development Authority (KHDA) has approved an increase in fees for private schools in Dubai.

Based on the inspection rating of the school, the fees can be increased accordingly, for the academic year 2023 to 2024.

Schools that have maintained the same rating will be eligible to increase their fees by 3%.

The schools that have gone up in their ratings can increase their fees, based on the methodology outlined in the School Fees Framework.

However, schools that have witnessed a drop in ratings will not be eligible to increase their fees.

The increase in fees is due to the current economic situation and is required to maintain the quality of education provided to students.

After the announcement was made by the KHDA, GEMS Education has updated that the schools will be investing in their teachers, by increasing salaries.

Dino Varkey, Group Chief Executive Officer at GEMS Education said, "Today's decision by KHDA to increase school fees for academic year 2023-24 empowers us to invest further in our teachers and facilities, the foundations of a quality education for every GEMS Education student. We are pleased to confirm today that we will be implementing teacher salary increases in April for our Indian curriculum schools and in September for our international schools."

The new academic year will see the first increase in fees for four years, with the last increase noticed during the academic year 2019 to 2020.

Dubai currently has 216 private schools with over 326,000 students enroled.
