According to HSBC's annual Expat Explorer study, the UAE has been named the 4th best country to work and live in.

The UAE has moved up ten places since the last annual rating.

The survey was done with the help of 20,000 people who live and work abroad.

Expats in the UAE that participated in the survey found that 82% of people were hopeful that life will be more stable and normal again in the next 12 months despite the global pandemic, which is above the global average of 35%.

53% of people also expect an increase in their income and 57% expect a better work-life balance.

The top three reasons for individuals choosing to live in the UAE is to improve their earnings, progress in their career and improve their quality of life.

86% of expats said that the quality of life in the UAE is better than their home country, with 11% of plans being changed due to the pandemic.

80% of individuals also responded that their children are more aware and open to different cultures and experiences in the UAE.

Abdulfattah Sharaf, HSBC UAE CEO and Head of International said, “The UAE being billed among the top five best places to live and work globally is inspiring and a clear indication of the huge potential that drives this country’s economy. We saw that potential as the first and only bank here when we opened our doors for business on 12 October 1946, and we’ve been investing ever since, supporting the country and our customers to open up a world of opportunity.”
