The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi Abu Dhabi (IIT-Delhi Abu Dhabi), the inaugural global campus of IIT-Delhi, has introduced a master's programme in Energy Transition and Sustainability (ETS) at Zayed University. Beginning in January 2024, the IIT-Delhi Abu Dhabi's ETS master's is tailored for the Abu Dhabi campus. It focuses on training professionals and scholars in the energy sector, providing them with the necessary knowledge and skills to implement sustainable approaches and solutions.

The programme gains significance as the UAE gets ready to host COP28 this year, aligning with the country's Year of Sustainability in 2023. It also supports the goals of the UAE National Energy Strategy 2050. The aim is to equip graduates with a deep understanding of modern technology and progressive policy frameworks. This is in line with efforts to cultivate a new generation of leaders capable of addressing the complex challenges of energy transition.

IIT-Delhi Abu Dhabi was founded after a significant memorandum of understanding (MoU) was signed in July between IIT-Delhi and the Abu Dhabi Department of Education and Knowledge (ADEK).

Regarding the programme, individuals accepted into the ETS master's programme at IIT-Delhi Abu Dhabi, with science and engineering backgrounds, will undergo a two-year curriculum. Upon successful completion, ETS graduates will possess a strong sense of confidence and adaptability when collaborating with peers from various disciplines. This ensures a comprehensive knowledge base as they enter careers in energy-related fields, making meaningful contributions to their specific areas of expertise.
