Interestingly, this isn't just our opinion, but it's based on the latest report ‘Travel Trends: Redefining value through experience in 2024’ by Skyscanner. They surveyed 1,000 respondents from the UAE to uncover interesting insights into the travel preferences of UAE travellers.
According to the survey, UAE residents still place a significant emphasis on getting value for their money when planning their trips, with the cost of hotels and flights being the primary factors influencing their choice of destination.
Notably, a majority of UAE residents (56%) are planning to increase their travel budget in 2024 compared to 2023, demonstrating a strong commitment to prioritising travel in the upcoming year. Additionally, 31% of respondents intend to maintain their current travel budget levels, indicating a degree of consistency in their travel spending plans.
It's worth noting that 42% of UAE residents now consider the overall 'vibe' of a destination as a significant factor in their holiday choices. When it comes to preferred destinations, UAE residents are showing a strong desire for cultural experiences, with several European capital cities gaining popularity for 2024.

Antalya, renowned for its stunning beaches, has witnessed a substantial surge in popularity, closely followed by Rome and Berlin. Japan is making a strong comeback after its reopening last year, with Osaka and Tokyo ranking first and third in popularity. Skyscanner also notes a growing interest in the perennial long-haul favourite, New York.
