Abu Dhabi’s Terminal A Is Now Open, Here’s Everything To Know

The recently inaugurated state-of-the-art terminal A at Abu Dhabi International Airport (AUH) has commenced its operations. This marks a significant milestone in the aviation history of the UAE. During the initial seven days of operation, a total of 637 flights with 28 airlines, will take off and land as they start transitioning to Terminal A. The terminal is set to be fully operational starting from 15 November. Here's everything to know about this newly launched terminal. 

Capacity Of Terminal A 

The new terminal represents a significant boost in capacity for Abu Dhabi's commercial aviation sector and has the capability to cater to as many as 45 million travellers each year. It is equipped to manage 79 aircraft simultaneously and accommodate a staggering 11,000 passengers per hour.

Retail Space 

Terminal A, with its distinctive X-shaped design, boasts top-notch amenities. It incorporates advanced biometric technology to enhance the efficiency of screening and boarding procedures. Additionally, it houses 163 shops and dining establishments, offering passengers a wide array of choices for shopping and dining.

The 35,000 sqm retail space also features two health and beauty spas, a 138-bedroom hotel, and a contemporary open-air lounge offering exceptional Arabic hospitality.

Flights And Transition

As of 1 November, the new terminal will serve as the operating base for Wizz Air Abu Dhabi and 15 additional international airlines. Etihad Airways will commence 16 daily flights from 9 November with full operations commencing on 14 November, along with Air Arabia Abu Dhabi and 10 other airlines. 

By 14 November, a total of 28 airlines will be in operation at Terminal A. Travellers with flights scheduled before 14 November, are advised to consult their respective airlines for travel information before arriving at the airport or receiving visitors.

Updates For Passengers

Abu Dhabi International Airport has initiated a comprehensive awareness campaign through print, digital, and broadcast channels. It encourages passengers and visitors to regularly visit the airport's website for the latest updates on arrivals and departures at Abu Dhabi International Airport from 1 - 14 November, ensuring everyone reaches the correct terminal.
