Aid Airlifted To Syria And Turkey

The UAE has airlifted 640 tonnes of relief aid to Syria and Turkey.

On 6 February, Syria and Turkey were hit with two earthquakes, with one in the morning measuring a 7.8 on the Richter scale, and the second in the afternoon measuring a 7.5 on the Richter scale.

The death toll has currently passed 21,000 people, with many left displaced and thousands injured.

Seven flights were sent to Syria to provide food relief as well as 515 tents.

Turkey will receive 15 flights with rescue and search teams as well as a 50-bed field hospital equipped with emergency departments, operation theatres, an intensive care unit, outpatient clinics, inpatient wards, a laboratory, a pharmacy and X-ray and CT services.

The medical teams specialise in orthopaedics, general surgery, anaesthesia, intensive care and technicians from various medical specialities.
