Bus Inspection Campaign for Schools And Nurseries

RTA

Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is running an inspection campaign for buses from 286 schools and nurseries in Dubai.

The campaign is to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and ensure regulations are set in place.

The visits are based on the number of violations reported during the previous academic year through smart inspections.

The inspection of school buses covers the security and safety of buses and permits for drivers and attendants along with their compliance with the assigned tasks and the cleanliness of buses.

RTA has set safety standards for operating school buses including setting a cap on the speed limit of buses to not exceed 80 km/h and each bus must be fitted with a speed control device compatible with the standards of the Emirates Authority for Standardisation and Metrology.

All buses should also have a First Aid Kit, with the contents matching the number of seats, a 6kg fire extinguisher based on the bus specifications.

The bus models should not be older than 15 years from the date of manufacture, with at least one emergency exit on each side and clearly marked as well as should be fitted with GPS tracking systems.
