The 1 Billion Meals initiative has now collected 420 million meals, within three weeks.
Launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai and organised by Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Global Initiatives (MBRGI), the initiative aims at providing meals to the underprivileged in 50 countries globally.
The initiative was launched at the beginning of the Holy Month of Ramadan and builds on the 100 million meals initiative launched last year.
Currently, Dhs 200 million in donations from 232,000 donors has been collected, which is equivalent to 200 million meals.
The total number of donations has come up to 420 million meals, including the 220 million meals collected last year.
The distribution has already begun in different countries including Nigeria, Sudan, Albania, Jordan, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, India and Kosovo.
