DHA First In The Region To Use Advanced Technology On Kidney Failure Patients

WAM

Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has announced that advanced technology is now being used to prepare patients for dialysis.

The technology is used on patients with kidney failure, without the need for surgical intervention and uses catheters with sound waves.

DHA is the first health institution in the Middle East and Eastern Europe to use advanced technology on patients with kidney failure.

The first successful operation using the technology was held at Rashid Hospital, on a 20-year-old patient suffering from kidney failure and needing dialysis.

The technology helped prepare the patient for hemodialysis through the catheter, with the patient leaving within an hour.

Tests were conducted prior to the procedure and under local anaesthesia, the procedure was completed within 34 minutes.

The service will help benefit patients as it is lower in financial costs and does not require staying at the hospital.

Additionally, 30% of kidney patients needing dialysis can benefit from the procedure.
