Since the launch of the 1 Billion Meals initiative, over 76 million meals have been collected.
The number of meals was reached in six days since it started and has already started distribution of food to six countries in India, Lebanon, Egypt, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Egypt.
The milestone was achieved due to various donations of differing sizes including donations from leading UAE businessman Khalaf Ahmad Al Habtoor, who donated Dhs 10 million to the campaign, along with organisations such as Dubai Duty Free and with Emirates Islamic Bank who contributed Dhs 5 million each and Jumbo Group who donated Dhs 1 million towards the initiative.
Additionally, Lulu Group donated Dhs 2 million to the campaign.
A total of 45,491 people have donated to the campaign and along with the 220 million meals collected during the 100 Million Meals campaign last year, the total number of meals collected has reached 296 million meals.
