Dubai's Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) is currently testing a new method for the payment of parking fees via WhatsApp.
The initiative is expected to be roll out in the coming weeks.
The use of WhatsApp to pay parking tickets is similar to the way drivers get their parking tickets digitally through an SMS message.
A reminder will also be sent to the driver, 20 minutes before the ticket expires.
By using WhatsApp, individuals will not have to pay an additional 30 fils for the message to go through.
RTA has also announced that auto-renewal of parking tickets will be launched and will help individuals finish all their tasks without having to worry about their parking ticket expiring.
The initiative was announced at GITEX Technology Week 2021 along with other smart initiatives that the RTA will be rolling out.
