School Group Launches Vaccine Drive For Students

GEMS Education has launched a vaccination campaign for children aged 12 and above.

The vaccination drive will administer the vaccine to students, after the announcement that children aged 12 to 15 years of age can receive the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.

The vaccination drive commenced on 24 May and aims to administer the vaccine to over 8,000 students in the age group in Dubai by the end of the week.

Over 42,000 students under GEMS Education are in the eligible age group to take the vaccine with 1,800 students already received their vaccines.

Vaccination drives in Sharjah and Ras Al Khaimah will be planned out in the future.

Elmarie Venter, Chief Operations Officer at GEMS Education said, "Our number one priority will always be the health and safety of our school communities, and we firmly believe that with this campaign of vaccinations for all students aged 12 and over, we can take a big step towards all our pupils safely returning to the classroom. Our parents have been extremely supportive throughout, and have welcomed all the health and safety measures that we have taken to ensure this."
