Postponing Expo 2020 Unanimously Agreed

Expo 2020 Dubai

Following the request made by the Expo 2020 Dubai Steering Committee last month, a special meeting of the Executive Committee of the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) has unanimously agreed to postpone Expo 2020 for this year.

The BIE committee is made up of delegates from 12 member states who met virtually today to discuss the UAE Governments request to postpone the event originally scheduled to start on 1 October 2020.

Though the committee has agreed it, member states will be asked to vote remotely by 29 May and, as long as a majority of two-thirds agree, then Expo 2020 Dubai will be changed to run on the proposed new dates of 1 October 2021 to 31 March 2022.
