Dubai Eye To Open Next Year

Meraas have confirmed that the world’s tallest observation wheel, Ain Dubai aka Dubai Eye, will be completed in time for Expo 2020. As the progress on the project continues, the eighth and the final 450-tonne temporary steel spoke has been removed from the wheel and has been replaced with spoke cables.

The eight temporary spokes were originally installed to hold the rim segments in place during the construction of the wheel. The wheel now stands without its eight spokes but still looks as impressive as ever.

Already a famous attraction over the newly opened man-made Bluewater Islands, the construction is edging closer to its final look and we cannot wait to see it finished. The next and the final construction phase will include the installation of the pods from where you can glance over the Dubai city like never before.

Standing at a staggering height of 250 metres, Ain Dubai becomes the world’s tallest wheel. It is 83 metres taller than the world’s second highest wheel, the High Roller in Las Vegas, which stands at 167 metres, and 115 metres taller than the London Eye, which has a height of 135 metres.
