Dubai traffic fines can be pretty scary things, they are high, can accumulate and each year make a significant dent in your pocket. That is why we have the opportunity to pay traffic penalties in installments. But what if we didn’t have to pay any issued fines at all? There is good news for you!
From this month onwards, if you end up getting a traffic ticket, you can now get it reduced or totally waived, if you drive within the law and don’t get any more fines.
Under the directives of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of UAE and Ruler of Dubai, and in line with 2019 being the Year of Tolerance, Dubai Police have launched an initiative for traffic fines settlement in Dubai through which drivers can get up to a 100% reduction on their total accumulated existing traffic fines.
Drivers can obtain a reduction on the accumulated traffic fines under the following circumstances:
- Drivers who do not commit any traffic violations for three months can obtain a reduction of 25% on the total accumulated existing fines.
- Drivers who do not commit any traffic violations for six months can obtain a reduction of 50% on the total accumulated existing fines.
- Drivers who do not commit any traffic violations for nine months can obtain a reduction of 75% on the total accumulated existing fines.
- Drivers who do not commit any traffic violations for 12 months can obtain a reduction of 100% on the total accumulated existing fines.
The new rule is currently in effect, with a 25% reduction every three months.
