Hearts melted all over the UAE when a video posted by HRH Princess Haya bint Hussein went viral.
The video features His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai at an awards ceremony. Although 11-year-old Maryam Amjoun’s award for the 2018 Arab Reading Challenge is an incredible achievement, it’s the tender moment between her and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed that really caught attention.
Overcome with emotion, Maryam was moved to tears upon receiving her award and began to sob. Seeing this, His Highnes Sheikh Mohammed leaned towards the girl and lovingly wiped away her tears with his ghutra (the traditional Arabic headdress worn by men.)
