Dubai police took to their official Twitter account this morning to warn residents of an increasing amount of car thefts. The tweet urged car owners to “never leave the engine on while the vehicle is unattended”. This has come following the arrest of four men who stole car batteries from parked cars in Jebel Ali and Al Qusais.
Leaving your car unattended with the engine running may be a good idea if you want to keep it cool, but it puts you and your belongings at risk of theft. Always make sure your car is in a well-lit place and not left over night or out of view of people. Also, do not leave your belongings or any valuables inside your car.
