DXB Brace For Busy Period

Most of the schools in the UAE will close for the summer holidays very soon and it’s the perfect time for families to plan their long overdue holidays with their kids.

So what?

This also means it is going to be a peak travel time starting this weekend and will continue next weekend, and Dubai International Airport (DXB) will be bustling with passengers heading away for a few weeks or the whole summer. DXB officials have advised families to arrive at the airport early to avoid the risk of delays.

Already the world’s busiest international airport, DXB has put preparations in place to welcome over 1.1 million travellers this weekend and next weekend. The various departments across the airport began preparations weeks in advance to handle the high magnitude of passenger traffic at the airport starting this week and running until next weekend.

Eugene Barry, Executive Vice-President, Commercial, Dubai Airports, said: “We are about to face the busiest days of the year here at Dubai International. It is predicted that June 28 is going to be the first of our busy days during the summer holiday. The weekend of July 5-8 is anticipated to be a busier time as the majority of local schools are breaking up for the summer. We expect during those few days to welcome over 1.1 million travellers.”

Barry said: “The message to anyone travelling over the busy time is simple: plan your journey, arrive at the airport early and make the maximum use of your time here before you depart from DXB this year..”

And, if you are travelling with Emirates, you can grab a free ice-cream to pass some time.
